SeaDataCloud is undertaken by a large and ambitious consortium which brings together 56 partners and 5 sub-contractors from 32 countries, bordering the European seas plus Australia, comprising 43 data centres and 18 institutes or international bodies that bring additional expertise in IT, INSPIRE, OGC, ISO, W3C standards and cloud and HPC facilities.
The core partners are National Oceanographic Data Centres and marine data centres of major marine research institutes that have built up and are operating the present SeaDataNet infrastructure for marine and ocean data management. They are highly skilled and actively engaged for decades in ocean and marine data management for in situ and remote sensing data for oceans, marine and coastal waters.
Almost all partners from the previous SeaDataNet projects are involved in SeaDataCloud, because most are established data centres and strong supporters and advocates of the SeaDataNet infrastructure.
The SeaDataNet consortium has been expanded with 3 other data centres (SYKE, UkrSCES, CNRS) and with 5 computing centres from the EUDAT consortium (CSC, DKRZ, CINECA, STFC, and GRNET) for their e-infrastructure expertise. EUDAT is a European network of computing infrastructures that develop and operate a common framework for managing scientific data spanning all European research data centres and data repositories and providing an interoperable layer of common data services.
Extra partners have joined with specific IT expertise in SWE (52°North), visualisation services (Deltares), and user interfaces and dashboards (ETT) and with scientific expertise (among them 4 are new partners CNRS, UiB, GEOMAR, and UniBO) who represent important lead customers, such as science community, EMODnet, Copernicus Marine Environmental Monitoring Service (CMEMS), and international scientific programmes such as SOCAT, ARGO, and others.
